What can I expect from a comprehensive breastfeeding consultation?

Where possible, every best effort is made to time the home visit with a breastfeed. A comprehensive assessment is performed including discussing YOUR feeding goals. Feeding your baby is not just about the physical aspect, but encompasses a psychological and emotional component. Not only will you receive guidance and support to help you feel confident and empowered with feeding, but so too reassurance, empathy and kindness.  The mental health of parents plays a significant part in the service provided and we explore and openly discuss ways of navigating the adjustment of parenthood and connecting with your baby. Follow up support is included and provided via text message and email support for 1 week. At times, families may benefit from additional follow up consultations.
